Well, hello. My name is Chris Pooch, and this is the beginning of a project; a goal for me for the next year. This isn't a simple new years resolution, statistically speaking those suck, very hard (end in march at the latest!), but rather something that I have thought about for a while, and decided to put into action, and with this blog also, into words. I am starting on the 1st because it just makes sense!
So, the goal. Run 3000 kilometres, in one calendar year. So that works out at roughly 58 km per week, or a little over 8km per day. But obviously, with life and the real world and all of those other factors, I am not so stupid as to think that I will be able to run that much everyday! So the plan is to try to keep to the 60 km per week mark, doing short(er) runs during the week, with longer runs at the weekend. Thats the plan, not sure how well it will work in practice when I get busy during the year, but I will manage I am sure!
Rules are, that only runs when I am measuring the distance counts, I assure you I wont make up distances to make it easier on myself!
Now, I will endeavour to update this about the runs, hopefully be able to talk about some good routes around Christchurch to go running, and I might even learn some things about being a better runner. Who knows!
I dont know what this is going to lead into, part of me would like to start triathlons, so it is possible that i will start in some swimming and cycling, or I might try and prep myself to dominate some middle distance running, or I might just keep running for fun. Plenty of ideas and options there, two days before the first run!
