An actual run

Well, as the title says, today I did an actual run. I have not been for one of those since last friday! So, almost a whole week without a run. Which when I am trying to run 3000 km in a year, anything more than 5 days off is probably not ideal, because I would be in danger of losing motivation!

I headed out to McLeans Island since it is close to my parents house (and well away from the damage...). I took my partner with me, I planned on a full loop, while my girlfriend planned on the shorter loop. My loop was good, I had been feeling pretty grumpy today, there are too many things out of my control, university especially and it is starting to become frustrating... I know I can't do anything to hurry it up, but it just catches up with me sometimes when I try to plan beyond tommorow.

My plan of meeting up with my girlfriend as she finished her loop ran into a snag when she was not back. No problem I thought, I would just go around the small loop backwards, and meet her on the way. The sole problem with that was that she had gone for a while, then turned around and come back! So, I basically did over one and a half laps of the track.

So consequently now I am tired. But, 20.24 km run today, in 1 hr 28 mins. So, a reasonably quick pace (4:22 per km) which is suprisingly good actually, given both my lack of running, and the amount that I have been doing lately.

Nothing new to report on the earthquake front, except that yesterday alone, Fulton Hogan (a multifaceted construction company) moved 42,500 tonnes of silt. That amount of silt equates to the same amount that Fulton Hogan moved in total after the September 4th quake. So there are alot of people, everywhere in Christchurch doing great work!
