Managed to get in a good long run., went from the Takahe to the Bellbird today as a loop, plus added a bit of extra distance, to make the run 22.14 km (1:47, 4:50km). I did the extra, because it means that this week I have completed 91.06 km!
So. One week down, what did I learn?
1) Blisters suck. More seem to keep appearing, which is a considerable annoyance.
2) My tech (Nike plus watch, this blog etc) all works well.
3) I actually do really like to run (probably a good thing considering what I am trying to do here!)
4) I want to find more runs
I guess final thoughts in this late blog post is that I am happy with the start I have made, I ran (on average) 13 km per day, for 7 days. This means that this week I ran 1.5 times what I need to be completing each and every week this year. The prospect slightly scares me! It is all well and good to do the running now when I have very little else on, but to do it when I am busy, that will be a different story.
So, in short, I am excited about it, but scared at the same time. Pretty much the usual for anyone trying to do something new!
